An Evangelion-inspired hand tool collection from AT Field

Japanese anime is massively popular all over the world. As a kid, I especially loved to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion (original Japanese title: Shin Seiki Evangerion), a series created by Hideaki Anno. In this apocalyptic action story, a paramilitary organization called NERV uses Evangelions or EVAs (which are giant humanoids piloted by teenagers) to fight against evil beings known as Angels.

Every week, when it was time for a new episode to air, I would already be waiting in front of the TV. The spectacle of giant robots and giant monsters engaged in battle has irresistible appeal.

That is why I was so excited to learn that a Japanese company called AT Field—yes, this is the official company name—has launched a series of Evangelion-inspired collections, including a line of hand tools.
Allow me to present a selection of my personal favorites below.

Warning:  when you use these hand tools, you may hear BGM,Angel Attack BGM ("使徒來襲")and your synchronization may surpass 400 percent!

1.) EVA x TRUSCO  NERV

EVA Tool Box 

This color scheme embodies everything NERV represents “strictly confidential”! The blood-red logo blazing against the pitch-black background virtually screams Open at your risk! No one will dare to open this box, even if only yesterday’s socks are inside it.

Japan Trusco Thin Folding Container 

These crates can be used to store books, toys, food, industrial goods, miscellaneous items or cardboard packaging. They are stackable, which saves floor space. They can also be used as industrial-style interior decoration. When not in use, they fold flat for compact storage.

2.) EVA x T.O.P

EVA-01Adjustable Wrench 

Many of you will be wondering whether this wrench has the functions of aProg Knife. For those of you who are not familiar with the franchise, here are the image and the definition of a Prog Knife taken from EvaWiki:

"Progressive Knife: Knife-type weapon that can stab and slice. A Progressive Knife (often called "Prog Knife" for short) is a combat knife stored in the left shoulder pylon of an Evangelion which uses it, and is one of the Evas' basic armaments. The blade of the knife vibrates at an extremely high frequency[1], increasing its cutting sharpness to the point that it can cleave the matter of a target object at a molecular level." from EvaWiki (https://wiki.evageeks.org/Evangelion_Melee_Weapons) 

Even in 2020, it is not yet possible to make a knife with a high-frequency vibration function. A source of ultrasonic waves would be difficult to affix to the knife. The key tech question is how to stabilize the vibration so that it does not break the knife itself. We have digressed from the topic at hand.

The adjustable wrench pictured above is a quality one made by TOP, a Japanese manufacturer. Established in 1939, TOP KOGYO is a leading hand tool company for professionals in Japan. The EVA-01 Adjustable Wrench weighs 190g, is 200mm in length, and its grip ranges from 8mm to 30mm. Its torque can reach up to 305 Nm. It looks cool and is a useful adjustable wrench. What a shame that it has no ultrasonic wave function.

3.) EVA 01-Test Saw Blade 

This company is really serious about what it does. In 2019, they presented the EVA 01-Test Saw Blade. Although it has no ultrasonic vibration function, Evangelion fans everywhere were thrilled.
